You minimized your makeup, shed a few layers of clothes and maybe even a few pounds. When it comes to summer beauty, you’re pretty much “what you see is what you get.” Summer is all about simplicity, but with simplicity comes honing in on the details. You might not be wearing much makeup, so you want your face to look flawless underneath.
Just like you would look at nutrition labels on foods, know what you are putting ton your face. Take a look at the label and be aware of certain ingredients.
Avoid… sunscreens that contain vitamin A. In some night creams, it claims to have anti-aging properties, but when applied to skin exposed to sun, it may speed the growth of skin tumors (isn’t spf supposed to ward off skin cancer?). Another one to stay away from is oxybenzone which can get into the bloodstream and act like estrogen in the body.
Choose… products with zinc oxide and avobenzone – which protect from uva radiation – plus use lotions not sprays which can be inhailed into the lungs. when in doubt, check out ewg’s research guide to approved products.
SPF 15-50. Any more than that and you could have the false sense of safety. The right spf for you is based on how hot it is and your skin tone.
ALWAYS wear hand cream with spf when outside. Even if you aren’t laying out in the sun, your hands are always exposed to the rays- especially when driving a car.

EAT THESE TO HEAL THE BURN
Avocado: Have a sunburn but don’t have any aloe? How about Avocado? Filled with nourishing vitamins and nutrients, avocado helps minimize the burn and heals sun damage faster.
Frozen Grapes: During the summer, always keep red frozen grapes in the freezer. If you get a burn, mash them and use them as a mask. Smear them on the burn and let it sit for 5-10 minutes. The cool, resveratrol-rich grapes suck the heat out of your skin while simultaneously helping fight sun-damage.
