The light bulb goes off and your “aha” moment has presented itself to you. Now what? How do you translate that idea to actuality? Sure the idea of “think rich and you will become rich…” is great and exciting in theory! Problem is: in most cases it doesn’t work. There are steps that need to be taken in order to turn your dreams into reality, your brilliant business idea into a thriving career, your scheme into a success.
In this time of transition, many of us are looking to change our ways, grab the reins and take control of our lives. We have bigger plans and want to broaden our reach. We see ourselves as happy and fulfilled and living “the dream.” We read dozens of self-help diatribes that explain in great detail how thoughts create our reality and that if we think rich we will be. Problem is- we are waiting for the happiness and fulfillment to happen to us instead of taking action and making happiness and fulfillment happen.
We are change-seekers, looking to hone and follow our passions, turning hobbies into self-made jobs. We want to stop working for someone else and start working for ourselves. But how? What are we supposed to do with our “aha” idea?
How many people do you know, including yourself, who have such a great idea, but don’t have the time or know how to translate it into reality? I’m not going to lie and say it’ll be easy. It won’t. But the great thing is that you have the drive, you have the high level concept, you have the contacts, and yes, you do have the time to make this happen.
Yes you can take your career to the next level. You may be a bartender or a store buyer and you don’t know how to take your talent, your passion, your knowledge and expand it so that it better benefits you. You may be told that you can’t make a career out of what you do, you never went to school for that. Plenty of entrepreneurs never went to school for “that.” They just had the determination to follow a path- not even necessarily knowing where that path would lead, carving it out as they went along, following the light from their light bulb overhead until that light was given life. Now it’s your turn. When? Right now.
It’s time to take your lightbulb dream and hone it, broaden it, brand it, market it and actualize it- transforming esoteric into action, ethereal into material, flash of genius into full blown business through a multi-prong approach to help you take your idea out of your head and make it real.
So stop saying “I have an idea but I don’t know what to do with it.” It’s time to do something with it. If you dream it, if you build it, if you “Sell Yourself,” it will come.
