I LOVE frozen yogurt. The mouth-filling creamy, sweet, decadent flavor is definitely crave-worthy. But it’s also high in sugar, calories, and somehow turns my stomach into knots. Until now. I have discovered a no-sugar added, unprocessed, all-natural, raw, vegan, fat free, creamy “soft serve”… that you make at home and you don’t need an ice cream mixer or even more than 3 minutes to make it. It’s bananas.
Literally. It’s frozen bananas blended in a food processor.
Here’s how you do it:
-Break up a couple of bananas and put them in a ziploc bag in the freezer
-Once frozen, let them thaw for about 5 minutes (mine thawed while I was in the shower)
-Place the bananas in the Food Processor
-Blend, Puree, Chop for about 3 minutes
-That’s it. It’s SO fantastic, creamy, rich and totally delicious and satisfying (unlike lots of those non-fat, no-sugar attempts at frozen yogurt.
If you want, add what I added for extra oomph (I used 2 bananas):
-Non-Fat Greek Yogurt (for extra protein, without the sugar, low in calorie, and carbs) (I added 1/2 cup)
-Peanut Butter (I added 1/2 tbsp)
-Dagoba Organic Chocolate Xocolatl w/ cocoa, bits of dark chocolate, chili and cinnamon (YUM!) (I added 1/2 tbsp)
-1 packet Truvia no-calorie sweetener
Ok… I admit, I just ate it for dinner. Is it the best dinner? Maybe not, but it’s not bad either. Fruit (got my fruit servings in for the day), protein, fiber, and healthy fat!
