Healthy Habits to help you NOT get FAT

If you want to lose or maintain weight, it’s about the little things- the daily healthy habits. Yes, your regular workout routine is great, but, honestly, it’s less about the 350-500 calorie burn, and more about the the little emotional bites; skipping meals, grazing and gorging; how you cook your food and how much of it you eat. 100 calories here, 50 calories there… they all add up. In the end, it’s a simple equation- calories in vs calories out… if you eat more calories than you burn, you will gain weight. Period.

-Plate and Bowl Size. Keep them smaller and manageable- they dictate a stopping point in order to keep your weight smaller and manageable

-Measuring cup in the pantry to measure out your cereal, oatmeal, pasta, and anything else that you can scoop! Don’t try to guess the size. Unless you are familiar with eye-balling, you are likely going to eat more than you think.

-Olive oil spray or chicken stock to avoid fat when cooking

-Healthy Snacks:
—-Protein Bar in the purse/car/desk. Look at the Nutrition Facts! Calories, Fat, Saturated Fat. I love Luna Bars and Kashi Go Lean Bars.
—-Justin’s Maple Almond Butter single serve container to keep in your purse. Keeps you fuller longer.
—-Sea’s Gift Roasted Seaweed Snack. Perfectly contained snack that is an amazing Alternative to Chips! Salty, crunchy, yum!
—-Ahi Jerky. Like other jerkies, you have to gnaw on it for a while- which makes you get out more flavor and feel more satisfied while consuming less calories.
—-100 Calorie Popcorn packs. Again, it’s a single serving. You don’t have the option of eating more.

-Desserts
—-Grapefruit! Makes you not want chocolate and helps naturally burn fat.
—-Chocolate –covered Espresso Nibs. 1 calorie per nib. Helps cut the sweet tooth.
—-Single serving Chocolate. 30 calories, 2.5 grams of fat. Let it sit in your mouth and dissolve the chocolate. Savor the flavor! We so often take endless bites of food and just swallow it without even tasting it and the amount of fat and calories?!
—-Frozen Fruit. You can buy bags of frozen berries, pineapple, mango. Or just freeze your own! I love frozen grapes. Buy a bunch of grapes and, before they go bad and you throw them out, put them in a Ziploc freezer bag and freeze them! Sometimes I even put a little spray of fat-free whip cream on top to bump up the dessert-ness of it! Yum
—-So Delicious Chocolate sandwich minis. Decadent, rich, really makes you feel satisfied and like you just gorged. But you didn’t.
